How did Rishabh Pant re-enter the top 10 in Test batting rankings?
Rishabh Pant’s return to the top 10 comes after an impressive performance in the first Test match against Bangladesh.
Pant’s explosive 109 in the second innings, paired with his important contribution in the first innings, catapulted his rise to sixth position in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings.
He wasn’t the only Indian player making strides. Shubman Gill, who hit an unbeaten 119 in the second innings, achieved a career-best 14th place.
Ashwin’s century in the first innings saw him rise significantly as well, moving up seven places in the batting rankings to reach 72nd position.

Why did Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma drop in Test batting rankings?
Both Kohli and Rohit faced tough outings in the first Test against Bangladesh. With low scores across both innings, their rankings suffered.
Rohit, who scored just 6 and 5, slipped from 5th to 10th, while Kohli dropped out of the top 10, dropping five spots from 7th to 12th.
Kohli’s failure to review an lbw decision which the big screen replays showed that the ball had edged the bat, added to his frustrations, contributing to his drop in rankings.
