The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is starting to hot up, as the race for the playoffs and top two positions in the table comes to an exciting conclusion. The final top four spot will be decided tomorrow, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

At the other end of the scale, a few teams have suffered some poor campaigns. Finalists and champions in the last two season, Gujarat Titans have endured a difficult season as they languish towards the bottom. It is a similar story for five-time champions Mumbai Indians who have now finished bottom of IPL 2024.

MI lost to Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium in their final fixture of the season on Friday. The loss meant that they finished dead bottom.

So far, Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) have finished bottom of the table on four occasions, the most in IPL history. Delhi Daredevils are second, with three. The first season's bottom-placed team, Deccan Chargers, won the IPL the next year. Last year's tenth-placed side Sunrisers Hyderabad have sealed playoffs qualification this season.
