Bet here on IPL 2024 and other cricket matches!

In a tournament like the IPL, which sees some of the highest-level cricket in the world the quality of action can be elevated by a good broadcaster. Commentators across all languages can not only bring valuable insights but also increase the entertainment value of the product.

Here, TSN brings you the best commentators in IPL 2024.

Who is the best commentator in IPL 2024? Listing the best commentators in Indian Premier League

Ian Bishop

A former fast bowler with over 100 appearances for West Indies across formats, Ian Raphael Bishop has successfully made a career as one of the game's most loved commentators since his retirement in 1998. Most notably, what sets him apart from many of his colleagues is the depth of his pre-match research while his expertise in the art of fast bowling gives him added credibility in that field.

Mark Howard

A relatively recent addition to IPL broadcasts, Australian Mark Howard has become a familiar voice on television during his stints with Fox Cricket in Australia. Howard is one of the few commentators on IPL duty that has not played international cricket. Starting out as a broadcaster covering Australian rules football, he has been a welcome addition to cricket, bringing energy and a strong direction to match coverage.

Katey Martin

Former New Zealand wicketkeeper Katey Martin is another new voice on the scene, taking up the mic after her retirement from international cricket in 2022. Aside from Deep Dasgupta, she is the only wicketkeeper on the commentary panel which makes her unqiue for providing insights to the position. As a recent international player, she is also more in tune with the expectations and mentality of a modern-day player.

Ravi Shastri

Ravi Shastri was an excellent cricketer in his own right, but his reputation as a broacaster precedes him for many fans of the current generation. Shastri's baritone on commentary and his trademark line, "That's gone like a tracer bullet!" have made him a fan favourite. His recent stint as head coach of the Indian team means that often in interviews, players appear more comfortable and willing to open up around him.

Brian Lara

There are not many batters who can claim to have rivalled Sachin Tendulkar during the 1990s and 2000s but Trinidadian native Brian Lara is one of them. Now occupying a place in the commentary box, Lara's sharp mind and cricketing acumen makes him one of the sharpest readers of the game. Having built a relationship with several players during his coaching stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad, he also has a unique insight into some of their personalities.

WV Raman

WV Raman did not have a long India career, but is a giant of the domestic game with 132 first-class matches to his name. His expertise of wickets in India is invaluable from a broadcast perspective, and he has honed his game sense during his coaching career, including stints in charge of both the Tamil Nadu Ranji Trophy team and the Indian national women's team.
