His recent stint as head coach of the Indian team means that often in interviews, players appear more comfortable and willing to open up around him.
Brian Lara
There are not many batters who can claim to have rivalled Sachin Tendulkar during the 1990s and 2000s but Trinidadian native Brian Lara is one of them. Now occupying a place in the commentary box, Lara's sharp mind and cricketing acumen makes him one of the sharpest readers of the game. Having built a relationship with several players during his coaching stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad, he also has a unique insight into some of their personalities.
WV Raman
WV Raman did not have a long India career, but is a giant of the domestic game with 132 first-class matches to his name. His expertise of wickets in India is invaluable from a broadcast perspective, and he has honed his game sense during his coaching career, including stints in charge of both the Tamil Nadu Ranji Trophy team and the Indian national women's team.
