India will play England in the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final on Friday. The Men in Blue suffered defeat at the hands of England in the semis of the previous edition of the T20 World Cup, and this is a chance for a sweet revenge for the Men in Blue.

India have been unbeaten so far in the tournament, while England narrowly went past the Super-8 group, after suffering a heavy defeat in their inaugural game against South Africa.

England skipper Jos Buttler spoke about facing India in the semi-finals in Guyana. The two giants will play at the Providence Stadium, with Buttler expressing about India's advantage ahead of the knockout game.

Does India have an advantage in T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final?

Ahead of the T20 World Cup semi-final, India do have some logistic advantage over England. Due to the scheduling, India knew their venue for the semi-finals from before, unlike England.

The Jos Buttler-led side did not have a clue about their semi-final destination right until the eleventh hour.

Moreover, there are chances of rain playing a spoilsport in the second semi-final. In case of a washout, India will be declared as winner as unlike the first semi-final, the second one does not have a reserve day. So as per rules, the team that finished at the top of their group will go through to the final.

Jos Buttler, however, was calm and composed in tackling the situation about the logistical fiasco. The England skipper spoke about how his team would be ready for whatever situation arises on the day.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Buttler said,

You can only control what you can control. We'll just have to wait and see and be ready for whatever situations arise. Generally, when people talk about the weather, you end up getting the full game in.

Why will India qualify for the World Cup Final in case of a washout?

As per the rules, the team topping the Super 8 group will qualify for the World Cup Final, in case the semi-final was not played.

India finished top of Group 1 in the Super 8s, while England finished second to South Africa in the Super 8 Group 2. Hence, due to any inconveniences, India would qualify for the T20 World Cup Final 2024, ahead of England.
