The wait is finally over! Euro 2024 officially kicks off in Germany today. The host nation welcomes Scotland to the Allianz Arena for the opening match.

Germany hasn't impressed in their recent friendlies. They drew 0-0 with Ukraine, dominating play but missing chances. Then, they edged past Greece 2-1 after an early error by Manuel Neuer. Despite his mistake, coach Julian Nagelsmann is backing the veteran goalkeeper.

Scotland has also had mixed results. They beat Gibraltar 2-0 but drew 2-2 with Finland after losing a two-goal lead. Despite recent injuries, captain Andy Robertson has been passed fit.

Germany will look to start strong at home, but Scotland will be ready to put up a fight.

Germany vs. Scotland prediction

  • Score prediction: Germany 2-0 Scotland

Scotland look well placed to end their frustrating record of missing out on the knockout stages with the possibility of a third place finish being enough to see them through to the Round of 16.

However, it's difficult to see past a solid win for the home side, despite their lack of competitive action since the 2022 World Cup. Nagelsmann is under pressure to go far in the tournament and his team is packed with Bundesliga talent.
