Another State of Origin series is in the books with New South Wales claiming the shield with an epic 14-4 win in the decider at Suncorp Stadium.

The Blues toppled Queensland in a brutal affair with Bradman Best and Mitch Moses crossing for the only tries of the game to hand NSW only their third win in a decider on enemy territory.

Who won the Wally Lewis Medal for State of Origin 2024 series?

Angus Crichton was crowned the Wally Lewis Medal winner for his performances during the Blues' two-straight victories to wrestle the shield off QLD.

Crichton was a standout in Game II in Melbourne, where NSW turned the tables on the Maroons after suffering a loss in the opening match.

The backrower was equally as important in the decider, despite being taken off in the first minute for a HIA.

Crichton returned to the fold after passing his test to register 137 run metres and 12 tackles in a strong display.

Crichton's win snapped a run from QLD forwards who had won the medal in the previous two years as he became the first NSW player since Tom Trbojevic in 2021 to claim the accolade as the player of the series.

Who won the Wally Lewis Medal last year?

Queensland forward Reuben Cotter was awarded the Wally Lewis Medal in 2023 after starring in a triumphant series for his state.

The Cowboys star was awarded the Player-of the-Match award in the opening game of last year's series after he helped the Maroons to a 26-18 victory at Adelaide Oval.

Cotter finished with a game-high 48 tackles to go with his 84 run metres from 10 carries during an 80-minute effort.

He topped his side's tackle count in the following game with 44 during a comprehensive 32-6 win over the Blues to wrap up the series with a game to go.

Meanwhile, in a losing side in Game III, Cotter made a game-high 44 tackles while returning to prop after starring in the backrow for QLD in Game II.

The tireless forward also clocked 116 run metres and registered a linebreak assist during the 24-10 loss in Sydney, which was enough to see him awarded the medal.
