Shawn Blore has pleaded not guilty to affray after being charged last month for an alleged incident in the Sydney CBD.

The Melbourne Storm backrower is accused of being involved in an incident in the early hours of the morning on July 8.

Blore entered a not guilty plea alongside his brother, Dean, who was also charged.

The matter will return to court on Wednesday, October 16.

Storm comment on Shawn Blore affray charge

"Blore entered a plea of not guilty in the Downing Centre Local Court after being charged with affray earlier this year," Melbourne noted in a statement.

"The club informed the NRL Integrity Unit at the time of the incident and both Blore and the club have co-operated with NSW Police and their investigations throughout.

"As the matter is before the courts, the club will make no further comment."

Blore arrived at Melbourne earlier this year after being involved in a swap deal which saw Justin Olam head the opposite way to the Wests Tigers.

He spent an injury-plagued four years at Concord playing for a total of 33 games for the club before inking a three-year deal with Melbourne.

"We are really excited about bringing Shawn into the Storm system," the club’s CEO, Justin Rodski, said upon the announcement of the deal.

"He is rated as one of the most promising younger players in the game having represented the junior Kangaroos and NSW Under 18s.

"He’s a player that has been of interest since his junior rep days, leading the Panthers’ SG Ball side to a premiership in 2018, and shown great resilience having returned from injury to play 15 games last season with the Tigers."

The 24-year-old has established himself as a constant presence on the Storm left edge under Craig Bellamy this season.

He has played 20 of the club’s 22 games to date, registering two tries, seven linebreaks and 77 run metres per game during their way to the minor premiership.
