Gold Coast will be gunning for back-to-back victories for the first time this season when they take on Newcastle in Magic Round

The Titans' win over North Queensland last week came at a price with AJ Brimson, Kieran Foran, Phillip Sami and Harley Smith-Shields all now sidelined.

However, Des Hasler's men did receive a major boost on the eve of the weekend with David Fifita completing a stunning backflip to knock back a move to the Sydney Roosters in order to remain on the Gold Coast.

Who will replace AJ Brimson for the Titans?

After losing their first four games of the season comprehensively, the Titans have started to take shape under Hasler.

Since their golden point loss to Canberra in Round 6, the club have been involved in four consecutive nail-biters and have won two of them.

AJ Brimson has been key to these victories with the Queenslander bagging a try in their two-point win over the Cowboys last week and grabbing a double in their three-point win over New Zealand.

The 25-year-old started the season in the centres for the first four games but has since switched between fullback and five-eighth, which resulted in a massive upturn in performances for the Titans.

Yet Brimson limped off last week while starring in the No.6 jersey with a groin injury which has ruled him out for up to two months.

And to make matters worse, his halves partner Kieran Foran also departed the game early with an injury which has forced Hasler into naming a makeshift playmaking duo for Magic Round.

Chris Randall will shift from hooker to take over from Brimson at five-eighth, with fellow dummy-half Sam Verrills named in the No.7 jersey as an injury crisis on the Gold Coast causes havoc.
