The fifth instalment of Magic Round is in the books. 

The three-day event has quickly established itself as a crown jewel in the NRL calendar with fans flocking to Brisbane to be part of the event.

But which clubs have the best records in Magic Round and which teams have struggled since its inception in 2019?

Brisbane Broncos

Brisbane have played all five of their games at Magic Round on Friday nights with four wins in that run. They have played against Manly every single time and continued this tradition in 2024.

The Broncos got the better of the Sea Eagles in their inaugural meeting, before they both traded landslide wins against each other.

Kevin Walters' side have now won three on the bounce as they battled to a 13-12 victory this year.

Canberra Raiders

Canberra are riding a four-match winning streak at Magic Round after beating Camterbury once again. 

The Raiders suffered a loss to the Sydney Roosters in their first appearance at the event in 2019 but have since gone unbeaten with three of those wins coming against the Bulldogs.

Canterbury Bulldogs

Canterbury are yet to win at Magic Round after slumping to five straight defeats at Suncorp. 

Newcastle have gotten the better of them on two separate occasions, while the Raiders have triumphed three times.

Cronulla Sharks

Cronulla were part of the first ever game at Magic Round in 2019 when they beat the Gold Coast Titans on a Thursday night in front of 17,000 fans. It took them four years to claim their second win. 

In 2021, they went down to South Sydney in a high-scoring affair, before also slumping to losses against the Raiders and Dolphins.

However, they turned it around this year when they claimed an impressive win over the Roosters.

Dolphins

The Dolphins got off to a winning start at Magic Round during their inaugural campaign in the competition as they recorded a commanding victory over the Sharks.

They then backed this up in 2024 with another strong showing against the Tigers that kept them unbeaten at the event.

Gold Coast Titans

Gold Coast have a 2-3 record at Magic Round after going down in controversial circumstances to the Knights in 2024. 

The Titans slipped to defeats against Cronulla and Penrith but then recovered to grab nail-biting wins over St George Illawarra and Parramatta before the Newcastle defeat.

Manly Sea Eagles

Manly have built a rivalry with Brisbane during Magic Round having been paired against them on every occasion so far.

The Sea Eagles have won just one of these matches though, which was a 50-6 thumping back in 2021.

Melbourne started their run at Magic Round in blistering fashion, bagging massive wins over the Eels and Dragons.

However, they then struggled with two straight losses blighting their record.

They bounced back to winning ways in this year's edition when they battered the struggling Eels.

Newcastle have won three of their four matches at Magic Round.

The Knights had the bye in 2023 and missed out on the event but made up for lost time when they beat the Titans this year.

New Zealand Warriors

New Zealand broke a three-match losing streak at Magic Round when they shocked the Panthers in this year's edition.  

The Warriors edged the Dragons in their first appearance at the event before losing to the Eels, Rabbitohs and Panthers.

However, they got their revenge on Ivan Cleary’s side when they battled to a narrow 22-20 win in 2024.

The Cowboys lost their first two matches at the event but have recovered to bag wins over the Tigers and Roosters in recent times.

The three-time premiership winners have an unsurprisingly strong record at Magic Round after winning three of their five appearances.

They hadn't tasted defeat since their first match at the event, when they slipped to a heavy loss to the Tigers, until they got knocked off by the Warriors.

The Rabbitohs had banked wins over the Cowboys, Sharks, Warriors and Storm prior to the defeat.

Sydney Roosters

Sydney have a strong record at Magic Round having tasted defeat just twice since its inception.

The Roosters won their first three matches while notching 30 or more points in all of those games, before they have lost to the Cowboys and Sharks.

Their only defeats have come against two Queensland sides in the Cowboys and Dolphins.
