The NRL will descend upon Brisbane once again this year for the annual showpiece event of Magic Round, which begins on Friday, May 17.

However, due to the uneven number of clubs in the competition, one club will miss out as they head into a bye.

Newcastle Knights were absent from Magic Round last year, which was held in Round 10, with every side featuring in the first and second editions of the concept, as the Dolphins had yet to enter the NRL.

The concept was first introduced in 2021 as a whole round of footy was played at the same ground – Suncorp Stadium – across a three-day period.

The Tigers and Knights were the first fixture on Friday, May 14, 2021.

Following this landmark fixture, the Sea Eagles put 50 points on the Broncos on their home patch, while there were also victories for the Rabbitohs, Roosters and Panthers.
