Kelma Tuilagi cops lengthy suspension for dangerous throw

It's been a tough season for the Eels, and it's going to get tougher with Tuilagi set to spend at least five weeks on the sidelines.

He was cited for a Grade Three dangerous throw but elected to head to the judiciary to dispute this grading.

However, in a late twist, Tuilagi then entered a no-contest to the charge after discovering he had sustained a thumb issue during the game.

The injury will automatically see the backrower spend over a month out of action anyway, so he chose not to head to the judiciary and cop a five-game ban.

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak accepts one-match ban

Warriors winger Watene-Zelezniak has copped a one-match ban for a Grade Two high tackle on Grant Anderson in his side's loss to Melbourne.

The offence happened in the 60th minute, as the Storm overcame a slow start to record a 16th straight win over the Warriors and cement their spot on the top of the ladder.

Jordan Riki hit with two-game ban

Riki will spend two games on the sidelines after taking an early plea for his hit on South Sydney's Murray.

Broncos coach Kevin Walter expressed his surprise Riki wasn't sent off for the incident.

“I thought he was lucky to stay on the field,” Walters said post-match.

“He (Riki) was a bit off tonight – he’ll be the first to admit it – and we’ll have a discussion with him. His effort was good, but he didn’t have his head in the right space.

“I don’t think he’ll get suspended. I thought a send-off would have been sufficient.”

Rabbitohs gun Latrell Mitchell has copped a heavy $3,000 fine for being involved in a melee after Riki's hit.
