It's been a season to forget for the Broncos.

From a grand final appearance in 2023 to missing the top eight entirely in 2024, it's been a stunning drop-off for Kevin Walters' side.

And it could get worse on Thursday night.

Brisbane will be on the verge of an unwanted record when they host minor premiers the Storm in Round 27.

If they lose, they will finish the season in 12th place, which would mark the worst single-season slide down the ladder in the club's history, per AAP.

After finishing last year's regular campaign in second place, it would signal a fall of 10 positions.

If the Broncos can secure two points, the highest position they can attain will be 10th, although that is dependent on other results.

Their worst drop in club history came in 2020 when they slid eight places from their 2019 effort to claim the wooden spoon.

A Brisbane win on Thursday will be a big ask, with Melbourne naming a full-strength team as they prepare for their finals campaign.

They will also have to overcome the Storm's staggering record at Suncorp.

The visitors currently boast a 75 per cent overall win rate at the venue and have won 18 of the 22 games between the sides at the ground.
