Adam Reynolds injury: Diagnosis, return date as Brisbane Broncos halfback nears return from ruptured biceps image

Adam Reynolds is nearing a return to the field after suffering a biceps injury during Brisbane's Round 9 clash with the Sydney Roosters.

The veteran halfback is now approaching the three-month mark on the sidelines after rupturing his biceps while attempting to make a tackle.

It continued a frustrating campaign for Reynolds after he missed three of the opening seven matches of the season due to a hamstring issue.

Adam Reynolds injury: Brisbane Broncos halfback nears return

Silence fell over Suncorp Stadium earlier this season when Reynolds was withdrawn early in the second half against the Roosters.

The playmaker ruptured his biceps after attempting to make a tackle, immediately dropping to his knees and signalling for help from the Broncos' trainers.

He pointed directly to his biceps and continued to support the affected area as he walked back to the sheds.

"It looks like it has come off the bone," Fox Sports' sideline commentator Corey Parker reported at the time.

Head coach Kevin Walters initially admitted there was a chance Reynolds was done for the season, however the No.7 now looks set to return in the coming weeks.

Reynolds declared he would be aiming for a return in Round 22 after having surgery earlier in the year.

However, he has been listed in the reserves this week and could return a few weeks ahead of schedule.

The 34-year-old's inclusion in the extended squad comes after he was pictured at Red Hill training with the rest of the Broncos players ahead of their Round 20 clash with Newcastle.

"We are not too sure when Reyno's full return is," his halves partner Ezra Mam said.

"We are happy to have him back training with us.

"He is definitely helping and guiding our halves and spine. Having him training is big for our team. When he comes back, we don't know, but it will be a big impact for us.

"He has been very sad to miss out and wants to come back as fast as he can."

In Reynolds' absence, the Broncos have endured a nightmare campaign which has last year's grand finalists in serious danger of missing out on the top-eight.

They are currently in 13th spot on the ladder with just seven wins from 17 matches to date.

A dire run of form that has resulted in six straight defeats, leaves them with the likely proposition of having to win all but one of their final seven matches to make the finals.
