Melbourne faces big selection decisions with the season-ending injury to Christian Petracca and the struggling form of Harrison Petty.

Will Tom De Koning's hot form mean Carlton choose to not select Marc Pittonet?

Expect Justin Longmuir to wield the axe after Fremantle's worst performance of the season against the Bulldogs.

Carlton vs. Geelong teams

Both Carlton and Geelong are coming off the bye as they meet in a Friday night blockbuster at the MCG.

The Blues defeated Essendon comfortably in their previous match and are unlikely to have many changes.

Marc Pittonet, Orazio Fantasia and David Cuningham will be available for selection if they pass fitness tests.

Tom De Koning's hot form makes the Pittonet selection call intriguing, while Jack Carroll could be dumped for one of the small forwards.

Geelong only have one regular senior player on their injury list - Cam Guthrie (Achilles), who is due back in two weeks.

Patrick Dangerfield and Ollie Henry (both hamstring) will return, while Zach Tuohy and Toby Conway will be in the selection discussion.

Rhys Stanley, Shannon Neale and Gary Rohan could be axed based on their lean performances against Sydney.

Port Adelaide vs. Brisbane teams

The Power received a boost after Zak Butters' suspension was overturned but they have lost back-to-back matches and look in trouble.

Willie Rioli and Jeremy Finlayson will likely be added to Port Adelaide's forward line, but Charlie Dixon won't return after copping a three-game suspension in the SANFL.

Players who struggled against GWS include Ollie Lord, Jed McEntee and Francis Evans, while Ivan Soldo could be dropped for Jordon Sweet.

There is unlikely to be many changes at Brisbane, having won five of their last six matches.

Noah Answerth (shoulder) will be forced out with injury, with Jaxon Prior seemingly the best like-for-like replacement.

Will Ashcroft (knee) could return as soon as next week after 12 months on the sidelines.

GWS vs. Sydney teams

Lachie Ash (calf) is a likely inclusion for GWS as they host derby rivals Sydney, but Stephen Coniglio (shoulder) is considered to be unlikely.

James Peatling dominated once again in the VFL but will find it hard to continue his AFL/VFL yo-yo after the Giants had a solid win against the Power.

Sub Toby McMullin wasn't given much opportunity last match, while Aaron Cadman struggled to impact.

Sydney are likely to be unchanged with selection, like they were prior to the Adelaide match.

Callum Mills is closing in on a return but it will likely be through the VFL.

Melbourne vs. North Melbourne teams

Expect the axe to be wielded at Melbourne, who also have injury issues.

Christian Petracca (spleen) will miss the rest of the season, while Jake Lever (knee) is still at least a week away.

Harrison Petty will once again see his selection come into question after another effectual performance, while Jack Billings is struggling at his second club.

Players putting their hand up for selection in the VFL include Adam Tomlinson, Koltyn Tholstrup, Tom Fullarton and Shane McAdam, who kicked four goals in the seconds.

Colby McKercher (foot) will return for North Melbourne after their heartbreaking loss to Collingwood last week.

Captain Jy Simpkin was a late out against the Magpies and faces a fitness test this week.

Dylan Stephens (32 disposals) and Zane Duursma (25 touches, three goals) look primed for senior selection after excellent VFL performances.

Star defender Griffin Logue (ACL) will finally return from injury through the VFL this week.

Essendon vs. West Coast teams

After a bye, Essendon has some positive selection dilemmas with Mason Redman, Sam Draper, Xavier Duursma and Ben Hobbs all fit to return.

Will Setterfield could also be available if he passes a fitness test on his knee.

Finding players to squeeze out could be difficult though, with sub Elijah Tsatas the only obvious axing candidate after excellent performances from Jye Menzie and Matt Guelfi.

Gun forward Oscar Allen will return for West Coast in a huge boost for their forward line, but Tim Kelly (knee) won't get up for the match.

Flankers Liam Duggan (concussion) and Jayden Hunt (toe) should also come back into the senior team.

Debutant Jack Hutchinson and forward Ryan Maric are the strong candidates for omission, while Bailey Williams will want to have some influence on the match this week.

Fremantle vs. Gold Coast teams

The axe is likely to be wielded at Fremantle after a poor performance against the Bulldogs.

Axing candidates include Jeremy Sharp, Michael Frederick, James Aish and Matthew Johnson, while Michael Walters is out for a month with a hamstring injury.

Will Brodie and Corey Wagner were the best performance Dockers in the WAFL, while Neil Erasmus and Patrick Voss were last week's emergencies.

Jarrod Witts will return for Gold Coast, which will likely see the impressive Ned Moyle return to the VFL.

Rory Atkins and James Tsitas both had 40-plus disposals in the VFL, but might find it hard to squeeze in the senior team.

Jed Walter hasn't kicked a goal for three games and could be set for a spell, while Bailey Humphrey was also anonymous in the Suns' last outing.
