North Melbourne have selected Geordie Payne with the No.1 pick in the AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

The Tasmanian was one of 19 players who earned list spots on Wednesday night.

WAFL talent Jacob Blight was picked by Richmond next, while Collingwood VFL player Jack Hutchinson was scooped up at No. 3 by West Coast.

Some players were also given a second shot in the AFL, including ex-Port Adelaide ruckman Brynn Teakle and former Hawthorn midfielder Ned Long.

Which players could selected in the 2024 AFL mid-season rookie draft?

To be eligible for the mid-season draft, players had to meet one of the following criteria:

  • Have been on an AFL list previously
  • Nominated for the 2023 AFL national draft
  • Nominate for the mid-season rookie

Note: If a player was delisted by a club at the end of 2023, they cannot rejoin that club unless they nominated for the 2023 AFL national draft
