A pair of 1-2 XFL teams trending in very opposite directions will go head-to-head Saturday as the Los Angeles Wildcats travel to face the New York Guardians.

The Wildcats finally got their first win in Week 3, and it was a big shocker as they rolled 39-9 over the previously undefeated DC Defenders. The big key for LA's offense was quarterback Josh Johnson, who finally looked healthy as he completed 18 of 25 passes for 278 yards and three touchdowns.

Even bigger than Johnson's performance was the Wildcats' defense, which shut down MVP candidate Cardale Jones, holding the Ohio State product to 13-of-26 passing for just 103 yards, no touchdowns and four interceptions. Jones had thrown just one pick in the previous two outings. Cornerback Mike Stevens stood out with a pair of interceptions, two pass deflections and a sack to lead the Wildcats.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Guardians got off to a strong start in Week 1 with a 23-3 win over the Tampa Bay Vipers, but they were shut out by the Defenders in Week 2 and scored just 9 points in a 20-point loss to the St. Louis BattleHawks last weeks. It's been tough to get consistency on offense with three different quarterbacks — Matt McGloin, Marquise Williams and Luis Perez — all splitting reps. Perez has been the most effective of the trio, though it's a small sample size as he completed 4 of 5 passes for 39 yards, a touchdown and no turnovers in Week 3.

The good news, if there is any for the Guardians, is that they've still played solid defense, allowing only six touchdowns (second-fewest in XFL) through three games. If they can pick up a rhythm on offense with Perez, who threw for 1,460 passing yards, 5 touchdowns and 6 interceptions with the Birmingham Irons last year in the AAF before the season was cut short, they might be able to turn things around.

Here's a guide to everything to know about watching the New York Guardians vs. L.A. Wildcats game, including start time, TV channel and a full XFL schedule for Week 4.

XFL odds Week 4

  • Spread: Wildcats -7 (-110), Guardians +7 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 40 (-110)

After last week's dominant display against the Defenders, it's easy to see why the Wildcats are favored. This will be their first trip to the east coast though, and the Guardians looked really good at home in Week 1 before hitting the road in back-to-back weeks. MetLife Stadium might just be the home field advantage they need to get back on track.
