WWE Speed Results (06/26/24): NXT Tag Team Champion Nathan Frazer defeats Akira Tozawa to advance image

Nathan Frazer is a very busy man nowadays. If he’s not helping Axiom defend the NXT Tag Team Championships, he’s taking Tony D’Angelo of The D’Angelo Family to the absolute limit in the Heritage Cup Match this past Tuesday and, one day later, Frazer was facing Akira Tozawa on WWE Speed for a chance at that title against Andrade.

One week ago, it was Xavier Woods of The New Day taking the victory over Dijak to advance, with Dijak now taking to social media to announce his divorce from WWE.

Tozawa could use some action in the ring, considering he’s not seen nearly as many bookings as has Frazer and would also like to wash the sour taste from his mouth regarding the implosion within The Alpha Academy — or whatever taste still remains in it after one of Chad Gable’s slaps to the face.

The Speed match is perfect for these two types of superstars, and both were off to the races once the three-minute clock got going. Tozawa and Frazer launched an onslaught of high-flying maneuvers and the match was nearly over with Frazer pinned following a dropkick with only 45 seconds having expired.

It was not to be, however, because Frazer escaped on the two count.

A reversal into a roll-up then nearly got Tozawa, but a two count was all Frazer could generate from the move. They’d exchange blows before a spectacular rope-flip inverted DDT put Tozawa to the mat, followed by a Shooting Star, but Tozawa refused to be an easy out.

In the end, it took a Superkick to the jaw and a Phoenix Splash off of the top turnbuckle to put Tozawa down for good, and Frazer is on to face Woods in the semifinals.

And that match will take place only four days before he defends his NXT Tag Team title at Heatwave in Toronto.

As noted: a very busy man.
