WWE RAW Most Shocking Moment: CM Punk, Drew McIntyre announced for Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood image

There’s bad blood, and then there’s Bad Blood. It’s been years since the WWE has executed the infamous and beloved premium live event but, as announced by WWE Champion Cody Rhodes in July, the PLE is back for 2024 and it’s being held in his native city of Atlanta — and either CM Punk and Drew McIntyre will likely leave on a stretcher.

That’s because general manager Adam Pearce is fed up with their months-long blood feud that culminated in the latest sneak attack by McIntyre that sent Punk to the hospital [again].

As such, Pearce announced on the Sept. 9 episode of RAW, the season opener, that Punk and Drew will not only square off in their trilogy match at Bad Blood.

They’ll do it in a Hell in a Cell match.

“The fight has to end, and it ends at Bad Blood. It’s gonna be CM Punk and Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood, one more time. And I can assure you that when it’s over, I’m gonna find peace, and do you know why I’m gonna find peace? I’m gonna find peace because I know in my heart it’ll be over because on October 5, in Atlanta, Georgia, Bad Blood — it will be CM Punk and Drew McIntyre. It will be Hell in a Cell!!”

This is sensational news that should become one of the best matches of the year.

The last time McIntyre and Punk met was in the strap match at the Bash in Berlin, with Punk tying the series at 1-1 after McIntyre took the victory at Summerslam. This one will be for all of the marbles, though, and will send each on very different trajectories once it’s over.

McIntyre’s record for HIAC matches isn’t stellar, but given his hate of Punk, and vice versa, it’s impossible to know how this one will end.
