Part of the allure of watching wrestling is, undoubtedly, trying to guess which direction things will go next. That's exactly what's needed in the fallout of the Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley and Dom Mysterio Love Triangle from SummerSlam on Saturday.
After months of teasing, Ripley and Morgan finally got a chance to meet back in the ring to settle their differences. After Ripley broke Morgan's arm, the Revenge Tour was instigated with Morgan injuring Ripley's shoulder in a back-hall attack that forced Ripley to abandon her WWE Women's Championship.
Not only did Morgan move into the title-holder's seat, but she went about systematically dismantling Ripley's WWE family, The Judgment Day, piece by piece. The crown jewel she chased was Ripley's boy toy, Mysterio, and it quickly became the WWE's best storyline.
On Saturday, Morgan's vengeance was completed with not just having Finn Balor turn on Damian Priest to cost the latter his Heavyweight Championship to Gunther, but in the first match of the SummerSlam match card.
Following months of teasing, Morgan finally got Dirty Dom to turn on Ripley, betray her and help Morgan retain her title.
After embarrassing Morgan on Monday Night RAW two weeks ago by screaming how much he hated her, Mysterio proved to be the quintessential Megaheel, turning on Ripley.
Morgan tried to bring a chair into the match 15 minutes in, but didn't get a chance to execute as Ripley kicked her and forced a drop. Ripley then went to use the chair but was stopped with it overhead, by Mysterio, who compelled her she'd lose by disqualification and wouldn't get the belt back.
Little did anyone know at the time, he was setting her up for the ultimate betrayal.

As was wondered allowed on the Instant Reaction podcast from And New! Wrestling, where does Dom's story go from here?
It's not as if Ripley is going to fight to win him back (though that is technically a possibility, though it shouldn't be). But maybe there's a better way.
And New! supposed that Mysterio is a MegaHeel, who is so over as a bad guy his lack of elite wrestling skills do nothing to betray the impact he has when on camera. So what about some outside the box thinking?
What if Ripley and Mysterio take each other on, one-on-one, man vs. woman?
It's not out of the realm of possibilities; WWE has done this before.
New WWE Women's Undisputed Champion and Queen of the Ring Nia Jax was a participant in the 2019 men's Royal Rumble. Randy Orton and Alexa Bliss fought each other during WWE Fastlane 2021. Becky Lynch vs James Ellsworth (2017), Lita vs Dean Malenko (2000-2001).
The most infamous though, is what happened around the turn of the millenium. Chyna (RIP) took on Jeff Jarrett at the 1999 No Mercy, winning the Intercontinental Championship, and then fought Chris Jericho multiple times in 1999 and 2000, including a co-championship reign.
So with that precedent, it's an easy leap from here that Mysterio and Ripley square off in the squared circle on a future episode of Monday Night RAW.
