WWE Monday Night Raw (September 2 episode) Results: Tessitore debuts, Sane suffers injury, Punk too? image

After a fairly successful Euro Tour concluded with the Bash in Berlin PLE, it's time for the main brands to return to the United States. WWE NXT's No Mercy set things off for the promotion on Sunday night, and to match the back-to-back pulled off in Germany with Friday's SmackDown ahead of the PLE, so too will Monday Night Raw bookend a twofer.

The focus on Monday will be the beginning of the 12-man tournament to identify the No. 1 contender for Bron Breakker's Intercontinental championship. There will be four three-way matches where each winner will earn a spot in a Fatal Four-Way, and the final two matches take place this episode to share the ring with Jey Uso and Pete Dunne.

There will be appearances from the stars as well, with Heavyweight champion Gunther fresh off his title defense in his adopted hometown, Liv Morgan and the Judgment Day fresh off taking the L to Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest and many others.

Date: Monday, September 2, 2024
Time: 8 pm ET
Location: Denver, CO

Match Results

Opening Promo

Welcome to the WWE Joe Tessitore. The long-time announcer of the NFL opens up the proceedings with Wade Barrett ahead of a recap of Bash in Berlin.

Rhea Ripley Promo

Welcome to Monday Night Mami! Forget hinting, Ripley declares that her and Terror Twin Damian Priest aren't done with the Judgment Day. She immediately declares worthy of a rematch for her Women's World Title after pinning Liv Morgan at Berlin, and is interrupted by Dom Mysterio, with a fresh black eye and popped blood vessel. In between non-stop boos, Mysterio says Morgan is still recovering but accepts the challenge.

Morgan tries to sneak up on Ripley but is caught by an elbow. All wasn't good though as while going after Mysterio Morgan was able to knock her through the ring. Only her left leg got caught in the ropes at the ankle, allowing Morgan to repeatedly kick her until Damian Priest raced out to her rescue.

American Made vs Alpha Academy in 6-man Mixed tag match

Otis catches Julius Creed off the top rope cross body. Maxine pounces on Ivy and nails her with a nice drop kick. Then instead of Tozawa launching himself out the ring, Maxinne Dupri climbs to the top rope and flies down to the floor taking out all three opponents before a commercial break.

Otis clears the ring after return from the break, then the Caterpillar and the elbow drop, standing cannonball and Julius Creed has to break up the pinfall. Tozawa dives through the rope on Brutus but Julius catches him and gives him a belly-to-belly.

Maxinne goes ack to work on Ivy Nile and rips off her shirt to hit a Reverse Caterpillar and kicks Chad Gable off the apron. That allowed Nile to attack and land the Dragon Sleeper. American Made wins by submission.

American Made / Wyatt 6 Promo

Gable goes on a diatribe, calling out the Wyatt 6 for an eight-man Street Fight Rules tag match next week. The lights go out and Uncle Howdy appears. "My life is no longer mine. So if this is the path that you have chosen, who am I to deny your undoing. You gambled your very being, and we will collect the debt." The rest of the faction appears. Commercial.

Zelina Vega vs Shana Baszler

Nice 619 by Vega to knock Baszler off the ropes and smash her face into the turnbuckle. Vega attacked the outsiders, allowing Baszler to catch her with a knee and the pinfall was quick. PFC jumps Vega, Lyra Valkyria races out to know doubt setup the tag-team match for next week.

CM Punk Promo

He wants Gunther. As predicted.

Drew McIntyre ends the Punk celebration and beats him down on the announcer's table. Claymore and it's a wrap. Wait, he throws Punk into the ring and catches him with another Claymore. McIntyre steals the bracelet back. As expected. He snaps the bracelet, takes the beads and shoves them in Punk's mouth, and then a third Claymore.

McIntyre attacked Punk once more, on the way to the ambulance, with another brutal onslaught.

Dom Mysterio vs Dragon Lee vs Ilja Dragunov in 3-Way IC qualifier

Dragunov and Lee clear Mysterio out the ring and the actual wrestling can begin. Three straight suplexes, including a double suplex by Dragunov. Carlito came out to help Myserio, leading to Priest coming out to beat down Carlito and then chase Mysterio out the arena. And we're back to the one-on-one. Things immediately kick into overdrive with chops, kicks, flips Powerbombs, oh my. Lee's stomp off the top rope led to a corner drop kick, then a series of kicks and knees. Dragunov retaliates with a huge elbow and gets the pin.

Damage CTRL vs Unholy Union in women's tag No. 1 contender match

Things got heated quickly when, with the tag chanps sitting ringide, Kaira Sane flew out the ring, but Isla Dawn drug Bianca Belair into the line of fire. Sane went in hard to the announcer table and got busted open. Fyre gets the upper hand on Iyo Sky while Jade Cargill beats on Sane outside the ring. Facebuster and Dawn gets the pinfall but Sane looks like she suffered a real injury.

Following the count, the chaps confront Damage CTRL in the ring, but no more blows were thrown. Probably because Sane looked like this:

Gunther Promo

Gunther insults the fans and talks about his legacy. Sami Zayn comes out to a raucous ovation to interrupt him and challenge for the championship. Zayn was the first to end Gunther's streak. He invoked the names of Macho Man Randy Savage, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, Bret Hart, as prior IC champions. Gunther refuses the challenge, Zayn basically calls him a chicken.  Zayn reminds that he's the only one to defeat Gunther in the ring.

Braun Strowman vs Sheamus vs Ludwig Kaiser in IC No. 1 Contender's match

Bron goes through the barricade but later emerges to throw a chair to Kaiser's face. Kaiser recovers to land a Kaiser Roll on Sheamus. A Brogue kick almost wins it but Pete Dunne drags Sheamus off Kaiser and hits him with a the shelale.

Stroman gets back in catches Kaiser with a splash in the corner into a running Power Slam and the pinfall.

Damian Priest and Jey Uso vs Finn Balor and JD McDonagh

Priest is on absolute monster time as Balor and McDonagh alternate running from him. They get the upper hand on Uso until they don't have it, and Uso flies over the ring to take out both on the arena floor. A series of Yeet punches is interrupted by a vicious McDonagh head butt, but Uso lands a kick and makes the tag. Priest clears through both of his former faction mates. Balor slips out of a South of Heaven. Double clothesline by Priest, double cross body from the top rope by Uso.

Uso Splash loading but with the ref distracted, Liv Morgan pulls him down, Balor takes control and lands a Coup De Gras before McDonagh lands a moonsault but Priest saves Uso from the three-count. Here comes Ripley on a crutch, Morgan meets her on the runway to mock her, but Ripley takes the crutch and starts beating and chasing her with it. Razor's Edge by Priest, Uso Splash and the pinfall.
