There’s no other way to put it than to say it directly: there is no going back to a world where corporate sponsors did not dictate what and how we get to enjoy much of anything. From a simple trek to a ballpark named after a cell phone company to our beloved professional wrestling — WWE, AEW, etc. — being inundated with commercial interruptions, it’s a part of life that gets worse by the day.

Have you noticed the ads on athlete’s jerseys, or the megasized Prime logo staring back at you from inside of a WWE ring during a premium live event?

Exactamundo.

And New! Wrestling takes a closer look at runtime on one show in particular, the world’s most popular weekly professional wrestling on the planet, to compare it to what we all just witnessed during the gladiator match between Will Ospreay and MJF on AEW Dynamite 250.

Warning: NSFW language

There is definitely a way to have better integration wherein things such as the two specific examples listed above aren’t overly intrusive, and that’s what some fans of WWE RAW are hoping is corrected when the Netflix era takes hold in January 2025.

One such way would be to promise that when there is in-ring action that the picture-in-picture feature is always utilized and not just on occasion. Getting ad revenue is completely fine and the nature of the beast, but we can all multitask at this point.

That is unless specific advertisers are demanding their product be placed with undivided attention and, you see, that goes to the overall gripe of the WWE Universe who isn’t asking for the deletion of commercials (again, we’re never those cats back into their bags) but to make the experience for the end user more pleasant.

Once RAW is gone from USA Network, it’ll be replaced there by SmackDown and will that network then try to stretch that show to three hours to satisfy advertisers?

Please, no.
