Randy Orton dodges RKO outta nowhere: WWE tag team DIY fail hilariously with a whiff on The Viper image

The beauty of professional wrestling isn’t simply the athletic talent and writing that can, at times, throw you through the back of your seat — e.g., Cody Rhodes finishing the story, CM Punk driving Drew McIntyre to quit and, of course, the ingenious months-long (years, even) orchestration of the Wyatt Sicks 6 debut

It’s also the relationships between wrestlers.

Moments like the one caught ahead of a recent show by the WWE tag team DIY illustrate this point, and hilariously so. When Tommasso Ciampa saw “The Viper” Randy Orton focused on his phone screen, he thought it’d be a great idea to give The Legend Killer a taste of his own medicine — with an RKO outta nowhere.

As you could imagine, it didn’t go as planned.

Orton’s radar is always on and, as such, he was able to skillfully sidestep the attempt and without looking up from his phone, sending Ciampa splashing backfirst onto the ringside mat.

That’s gotta hurt.

The look on the face of Ciampa’s teammate, Johnny Gargano, tells the whole story, though it was Gargano sort of egging Ciampa on in the first place to try and catch the future Hall of Famer off-guard.

Not only is wrestling “cool again”, it’s also extremely fun for all involved.

Just maybe leave the RKO finisher to the master.
