Bret Hart to make surprise appearance on WWE broadcast, date announced image

O Canada, you’re in for one hell of a treat next week, and that goes for the entirety of the WWE Universe as a whole. The season premiere of RAW launches on Monday, Sept. 9 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Paul “Triple H” Levesque is pulling out the stops — preparing a show that will feature none other than the one, the only, Bret “The Hitman” Hart.

That’s right, folks. The Excellence of Execution will make an appearance on Monday Night in his hometown to kick off not only the season premiere of RAW, but also WWE on USA week, with RAW, NXT and SmackDown all broadcasting on USA.

This news is confirmed by none other than Jackie Redmond, backstage reporter for the Red Brand.

“I hope you’re enjoying what’s left of this beautiful, beautiful summer, but I had to hop on because I can officially confirm — through some very legitimate sources — that this Monday, on the season premiere of Monday Night RAW, Canadian legend Bret “The Hitman” Hart himself will be at the Saddledome in Calgary,” said Redmond on social media.

Hart has had a tumultuous relationship with the WWE over the past few decades, to say the very least, prompted by the infamous Montreal Screwjob that involved Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series in 1997.

The fences have since been mended, not entirely coincidental as McMahon is gone and blackballed from the company nowadays, though he did begin to make appearances in WWE prior to that fallout — now inducted into the Hall of Fame and having repaired his relationship with the Heartbreak Kid on a classic episode of RAW years back.

It’s unknown if Hart will have anything special tied to his appearance on Monday night but, to be frank, just seeing him in a WWE ring is special enough for all involved.

After all, we’re talking about the best the is, the best there was and the best there ever will be.
