AEW Crossover: MJF plans to defend International Title in Mexico against CMLL image

One of the most insane wrestling matches you’d ever see took place at AEW Dynamite 250 when MJF defeated Will Ospreay to take possession of the International Championship belt, in a near-60 minute marathon that eclipsed the entire in-ring action time of WWE RAW from that very same week. And now, belt in tow, MJF has a taste for Mexican food.

The braggadocious superstar announced he will be the latest in the ongoing AEW-CMLL crossover series to take his talents south of the border, not unlike what Willow Nightingale did when she won the CMLL Women’s Championship that was stripped from Stephanie Vaquer, who signed with WWE, only days earlier.

On Aug. 2, it’ll be luchador versus MJF for an AEW championship.

“So now I’m thinking, ‘What can a young, benevolent king like myself do to help out the world internationally?’” said MJF. “And the answer is simple. I’m going to take it to those masked morons in Mexico.

“ … And for that, CMLL, you can thank me later.”

And he couldn’t resist the chance to demean Ospreay prior to making that announcement.

“First of all — easiest match of my life,” MJF said. “Second of all, am I proud? Of course I am because, unlike Will Ospreay, I have a killer instinct. That’s why I was the longest-reigning AEW World Champion of all-time. That is why I’m now the International Champion. And that is why Will Ospreay is gonna cry himself to sleep tonight.

“He was afraid to pull the trigger but, now, you are looking, unequivocally, at the greatest wrestler on God’s green Earth.”

There is no doubt he is one of the best, but in his mind that’s not going to cut it, because he wants to prove, globally, that no one can touch him in the ring. He will find that luchadors are far from an easy out, but with so much on the line, expect MJF to bring the goods.

The entire country of Mexico will be waiting to see what he’s got.
