Former NXT champ Adam Cole abruptly left an interview with Pat McAfee on Thursday, but not before breaking a microphone and dropping multiple F-bombs.
The incident occurred on "The Pat McAfee Show," where Cole was a surprise guest.
Things got heated when Cole got offended by McAfee's questions.

Come on, it HAS to be a work, right?

If this were a legitimate argument I don’t think #AdamCole would throw in the line of “I’m the longest reigning #WWENXT Champion, I did that all by myself”
Credit Cole and McAfee for getting people talking though. pic.twitter.com/tn1pijoLiE

After the blowup, McAfee shared a text message exchange he had with Cole earlier in the day asking him to be on the show.
Hindsight is always 20/20 but I obviously regret this DM.

I thought a convo between us could’ve been good content #ForTheShow but instead it ended in the most insane way imaginable
He broke a mic, a headset, pushed @tyschmit, & stormed out of our office.

McAfee shared his thoughts after Cole stormed off the set.
minutes now trying to figure out what the hell just happened. I obviously never mean to disrespect anybody but, fuck that guy. There’s no way that’s how an ADULT human should act.

I pride our show on being a positive, good time having, upbeat show & he will never be invited back
McAfee and Cole's beef dates to 2018, when McAfee caused Cole to lose a match.
But was the incident real or fake?
Several Twitter users think the moment was staged to set up a future fight.
That little confrontation/altercation on the #PatMcAfeeShowLive can only mean one thing! @PatMcAfeeShow vs @AdamColePro at #SummerSlam ! LET’S GO!!! Make sure to show up in the jorts Pat!

I mean, total work, but Cole / McAfee at TakeOver will be a must-watch event.

I gotta be honest. I know pats relationship with NXT and him getting into shape. This may be the set-up for match down the road. Ring in the office means he’s practicing. I wouldn’t doubt seeing pat in his first match soon. He has said he’s always wanted to.

Wow. I mean staged. But way to sell it.
