The Liberty claimed the No. 1 seed thanks to their three-headed monster of Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones. They took down 2024 MVP A'ja Wilson and the defending champion Aces in the second round to reach the WNBA Finals.

The No. 2-seed Lynx enjoyed a successful season behind Napheesa Collier's MVP-caliber breakout, and they defeated Alyssa Thomas and the No. 3-seed Sun to set the WNBA Finals stage.
