Las Vegas Aces guard Riquna Williams was arrested on nine charges of domestic violence on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old played a key role for the Aces off the bench during their 2022 WNBA championship season, but she has not played in 2023 due to a lower back injury. Now, she will be "precluded from participating in team activities," per the team's official release.

What are the domestic violence charges against Riquna Williams?
Williams was arrested on Tuesday with nine domestic violence charges filed against her by her spouse.
The charges included three felony counts of strangulation, one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon, one felony count of coercion and four misdemeanor counts of domestic battery, per the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
“The court does have concerns regarding the extremely violent nature of the allegations in this case, that they were alleged to have occurred over an extended period of time,” Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Rebecca Saxe said during Williams’ initial court appearance on Wednesday.
This is not the first time that Williams has been charged with domestic violence. In 2019, she served a 10-game suspension with the Los Angeles Sparks after she was arrested in an alleged domestic violence incident where she was accused of forcing her way inside a Florida home, attacking her ex-girlfriend and pointing a gun at a man before speeding off.
She was charged with "two felony counts, one involving the assault of an individual with whom she was in a relationship and the other involving a threat to another person with a firearm," per the Associated Press.
Prosecutors in Palm Beach County, Florida, dropped the burglary and assault with a firearm charges against Williams in 2020, per the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Further information about her most recent arrest has not been immediately available. Check back for updates as the situation develops.
