One of the most star-studded relationships in sports is coming to an end.
WNBA star Kelsey Plum and NFL tight end Darren Waller filed for divorce Tuesday, bringing to an end their well-publicized relationship. Plum posted a heartfelt statement on social media confirming the news.
The announcement comes not long after Waller, 31, publicly questioned his own NFL future despite being under contract through 2026. He was considering whether he wanted to "invest" his mind and body into the game anymore, he told People magazine.
Plum, meanwhile, is preparing for her seventh WNBA season with the Olympics in mind. The 29-year-old won back-to-back championships with the Aces and earned an All-Star in each of the last two seasons.
Here are the details surrounding Plum and Waller's divorce and what the WNBA star is saying about the development.

Kelsey Plum-Darren Waller divorce
Plum and Waller filed for divorce Tuesday, according to People Magazine. No explanation for the split was made public.
Plum released a statement following the news, in which she indicated that the split was potentially less than amicable.
"I'm devastated. I walked through fire for that man, but now I see it's time to go," Plum said, adding: "One day I'll share my story."
The Aces star thanked God and her family "for the grace to process my pain, to forgive and move forward."

Plum and Waller got married in March 2023 in Las Vegas. Their relationship became public in 2022, though it isn't known exactly when they started dating.
Both Plum and Waller played for Las Vegas teams when they first got married, but that lasted less than two weeks before Waller was traded from the Raiders to the Giants. Waller posted 552 yards and a touchdown on the other side of the country, even though he missed five games due to injuries.
Waller hasn't yet confirmed that he's returning to the Giants in 2024, while Plum is set to start the 2024 WNBA season with the Aces in three weeks. Plum also is competing for an Olympic spot after winning a gold medal with USA Basketball's 3x3 team at the 2021 Summer Games.
Kelsey Plum contract and net worth
Plum signed a two-year, $400,000 contract extension with the Aces in 2022.
The former No. 1 overall pick got off to an inconsistent start to her WNBA career, but she's come on strong over the last two years with back-to-back All-Star appearances for the league's best team.
Plum's net worth is an estimated $2 million, with the bulk of that coming through endorsement deals. She has been a prominent face in women's basketball since her college career at Washington, and Plum landed a deal with Under Armour in 2022.

Darren Waller contract and net worth
Waller inked a three-year, $51 million contract extension with the Raiders in 2022, lasting through 2026. He was traded to the Giants in March 2023.
New York restructured Waller's contract after the deal, making it more difficult to release him ahead of the 2024 season. Despite struggles and injuries in 2023, Waller remains on the Giants roster and evidently still has to determine his future.
While Waller is under contract through 2026, the Giants wouldn't burden as large of a dead cap hit if they released him after 2024.
Waller's net worth is tough to pin down, but he's earned $42.9 million through NFL contracts. Originally a depth piece with the Ravens, Waller broke out with the Raiders and finally topped a $1 million salary in his fifth NFL season when he made $3.3 million in 2019.
