The Fever and Sparks will collide in a rubber match on Wednesday night.
Back in late May, Indiana and Los Angeles met twice in the span of just four days, with the Fever winning the first battle and the Sparks securing a victory in the second contest. Those games don't mean much now, though, as these teams are on completely different paths.
The Fever have clinched their first playoff berth since 2016 after winning six of their last seven games. Rookie Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell have been lighting up the scoreboard, pushing Indiana's scoring average during this recent run to 91.1 points per game.
The Sparks have had no such luck since returning from the Olympic break. They beat the Liberty on Aug. 28 to snap a six-game losing streak, but they then fell to the Dream at home on Sunday. While Los Angeles will likely miss the postseason, Rickea Jackson has shown flashes of brilliance in her rookie campaign.
