The Acolyte, the latest TV show on Disney+ for the Star Wars franchise, is officially available on June 4. It is expected to be another hit for a franchise that dates back to the 1970s.
The eight-episode show will focus on The High Republic Era, when the Jedi were at the height of their power, and there was peace. Nothing lasts forever, however, as dark forces return to the confusion and fear of many.
Set 100 years before The Phantom Menace, the show provides an in-depth look at an era of Star Wars discussed but not often shown.
"If I want to tell my own story, what am I the most interested in? And it was the rise of the Sith," The Acolyte showrunner Leslye Headland said via ComicBook.com. "How did the 'Rule of Two' continue for all of this time until Sidious and Maul reveal themselves in The Phantom Menace? So that just sparked, for me, the most interesting place for it [the show] to take place.

It has a budget of over $180 million and stars The Hunger Games and The Hate U Give’s Amandla Stenberg, Matrix alum Carrie-Anne Moss, Squid Games’ Lee Jung-jae, and Logan’s Dafne Keen.
