The second season of "Mayor of Kingstown" ended on a major cliffhanger, and the next season looks to step it up a notch. With a healed Jeremy Renner returning for season three, it appears the show will deliver and then some.
Renner returns as Mike McLusky, the eponymous mayor, attempting to keep the peace between prisoners and the community of Kingstown. The McLusky family controls all aspects of the area, often through questionable means.
It was unknown if Renner would return to to the show after being run over by a 14,330-pound snowcat at his home in Nevada in January 2023. But he has managed to heal and get back to work on the show.
The end of the second season saw Renner’s McLusky and Russian mobster Milo engage in a battle that saw McLusky’s mom fight for her life. Season three could start with the McLusky family struggling, seeing how Dianne Wiest, who plays mom Mariam, will reportedly not return this season.

“You don't get too much time in Kingstown to mourn and grieve; you've got to move on,” Renner told Screen Rant. “With that, there's a rebirth with the death. There's a rebirth of the baby, and the focus kind of goes on that and into hope. It's hard to find hope in Kingstown too, but I think through the birth of baby Mitch, I think that's how they begin to cope with the loss of their mom.”
