For the first time since 1992, Washington, D.C., has a reason to celebrate a major sports championship.
The 2018 Stanley Cup champion Capitals will parade through the streets Tuesday to consummate their historic achievement. Outside of D.C. United's MLS title in 2004 (they didn't get the parade treatment), the Super Bowl 26 champion Redskins were the last Washington-based team to receive a formal party from the city. But this won't be any old parade; Capitals fans get to let out 44 years worth of hockey-induced misery.
More than 100,000 fans are expected to swarm the D.C. streets along the historic parade route. They are likely to see Alex Ovechkin continue to sing Queen's "We Are the Champions" as well as the rest of the Capitals and their unpredictable penchant for drunken shenanigans.
Whether you plan to attend the festivities or watch from afar, below is everything you'll need to know about the Capitals' parade plans.

Capitals parade schedule
The parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. ET. At approximately 11:25 a.m., the Air National Guard will perform a flyover during the celebration. The parade concludes with a fan rally on the National Mall.
In addition to the Capitals and their alumni, a number of celebrities, public figures and other guests of honor are expected to take part in the festivities.
