Daniel Cormier says Michael Chandler should 'move off' Conor McGregor fight after latest cancellation image

Daniel Cormier thinks it is time for Michael Chandler to move on.

After the latest cancellation of his highly-anticipated bout with Conor McGregor, Cormer offered advice on Chandler's next move.

The UFC Hall of Famer believes McGregor could be done fighting and thinks Chandler needs to get back in the cage.

“Michael Chandler still needs to fight,” Cormier said. “Michael Chandler, it seems like he needs Conor McGregor, but I don’t know that does. When you talk to Mike, his goals have not changed. He still wants to be world champion. I don’t know that even if he wins, this fight moves him closer to being world champion.

“He’s got some things to weigh going forward because I don’t know that he should wait anymore. I think it’s time to move off of this, and I believe that the overwhelming sentiment is that (McGregor) is done. I thought Conor McGregor was going to come back because to me, Conor McGregor’s a fighter. I know skill-for-skill, the Conor McGregor of 2015 isn’t the same guy. But I thought that the star was still the same. I just don’t know that he wants to fight. Especially right now.”

Some believe McGregor's injury could be minor and that he will be ready to return to action by August or September.

However, at 38 years old, Chandler's time is running out to reach the top of the division.

The pay-per-view bout was set to be McGregor's first octagon appearance since July 10, 2021. The bout ended with McGregor suffering a gruesome leg fracture after a kick from Dustin Poirier.

Chandler, meanwhile, has not fought since November 2022, when he suffered a submission loss to Poirier.
