Miki Sudo remains on top of the hot dog eating world, and she broke her own world record in the process.

The reigning champion won her 10th Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest at the 2024 event, slamming 51 hot dogs in 10 minutes. Sudo beat her own previous record of 48.5 hot dogs set in 2020. She downed 39.5 hot dogs in last year's contest.

Sudo has won all 10 Nathan's contests in which she has competed and all but one since her 2014 debut. She skipped the 2021 contest due to pregnancy.

Sudo, who will turn 39 later this month, outlasted all her competitors. Mayoi Ebihara kept pace with Sudo early on, trailing just 22-18 midway through the contest. But Sudo's stamina and steady pace were too great to overcome.

The 10-time champion extended her lead over time, consuming more and more hot dogs as her opponents slowed down.

Yet Ebihara was impressive nonetheless. She finished in second place with 37 hot dogs, and Sudo credited her for the extra motivation.

"So much of this is thanks to Mayoi Ebihara who was pushing me so much," Sudo said. "Honestly, I prepared even more because I knew she was going to bring it."

Of the women's competition, Sudo proclaimed: "We're only going up from here!" She also confirmed she plans to return in 2025 to go for an 11th title.
