Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama has been described as the key man for Tottenham when they take on Manchester City on Saturday.
Ex-Spurs player Jermaine Jenas has lebelled the signing of Wanyama from Southampton as ‘massive’ after forming a wonderful partnership in the midfield with Mousa Dembele. “The addition of Victor Wanyama was massive,” Jenas told BBC.
“Having Wanyama there means Pochettino can play Eric Dier at centre-half without losing anything in the middle of the park. Far from it, in fact, because Wanyama and Dembele have formed the most powerful central midfield partnership in the Premier League.”
Wanyama’s presence in Spurs has seen the side keep 11 cleans sheets and 15 wins. Spurs blew Pep Guardiola’s side away at White Hart Lane back in October in a 2-0 victory, thanks to an Aleksander Kolarov own goal and a Dele Alli strike.
A win for Spurs could see them move to within four points of league leaders Chelsea, if Antonio Conte’s side lose to Marco Silva’s Hull at Stamford Bridge.
