For the second time in three years, the US Open comes down to Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev.
The No. 2-ranked Djokovic goes for his third Grand Slam title of the year on Sunday as he faces No. 3 Medvedev in a rematch of the 2021 US Open championship. Medvedev defeated the Serbian two years ago in what is his only Grand Slam win to date.
Djokovic put a stop to the run of 20-year-old Ben Shelton in the semifinals, defeating the American in straight sets to earn his spot in the championship. Meanwhile, Medvedev spoiled the thought of a Djokovic-Carlos Alcaraz final, defeating the No. 1-ranked Spaniard in the semis.
There is a chance for history to be made at Arthur Ashe Stadium today. A win over Medvedev would mark Djokovic's 24th career Grand Slam title, pulling him into a tie with Margaret Court for the most Grand Slam singles titles.
