French Open schedule 2020: TV coverage, channels & more to watch every match in tennis Grand Slam image

Originally scheduled for May 24 to June 7, the French Open was shifted to September due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

All eyes will be on the "King of Clay," Rafael Nadal as he goes for his 13th title — and fourth consecutive — at Roland Garros. If he wins the tournament, he will match Roger Federer's record of 20 Grand Slam titles. Nadal is coming off a quarterfinal loss at the Italian Open to Diego Schwartzman. Federer, by the way, is still on the sidelines as he recovers from knee surgery.

Nadal will face stiff competition from No. 1 Novak Djokovic, who is coming off a win at the Italian Open and whose only "loss" was when he defaulted at the US Open. Also on hand will be 2020 US Open champion Dominic Thiem and Canada's Denis Shapovalov who broke into the ATP Tour's Top-10 when the last rankings came out.

On the women's side, world No. 1 and defending champ Ash Barty is again skipping as she stays in Australia due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Simona Halep moves up to the top seed, and will look to reclaim her crown after winning in 2018; she is also a two-time finalist (2017, 2014). Like Nadal, Serena Williams will be looking to match some history — she is one Grand Slam singles title away from tying Margaret Court's record of 24. Williams has won three times at Roland Garros, the last in 2015.
