Coco Gauff is looking primed for the latter stages of the Australian Open after a comprehensive win over compatriot Alycia Parks in the third round on Friday.
The American fourth seed barely put a foot wrong as she destroyed Parks 6-0 6-2 in an hour and one minute on Margaret Court Arena.
Gauff will now prepare for a fourth round match against either qualifier Anastasia Zakharova or Poland's Magdalena Frech.
The world no.4 blitzed her countrywoman in the first, winning 28 points to 16 as she bageled Parks 6-0.
Despite Parks holding serve the first two games of the second set, Gauff eased away soon after to win the final four games and close out the match.
The draw has opened up for the US Open 2023 champion as she seeks to win her second consecutive major.
With eighth seed Maria Sakkari and 16th seed Caroline Garcia eliminated from Gauff's quarter of the draw, her path to semi-finals has only one seed remaining - no. 10 Beatriz Haddad Maia.
If Gauff gets to the semi-final, a likely meeting with last year's Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka awaits, with sixth seed Ons Jabeur already vanquished from the other half of the draw.
