Tanzania National Football Team, 'Taifa Stars' is expected to play the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday.

This will be the second warm up match for Taifa Stars following last week's encounter against Algeria where they were stunned 4-1.

The game will be used by both teams as preparation ahead of their 2019 Afcon qualifying matches where Tanzania have been placed in group L with the likes of Uganda, Lesotho and Cape Verde.

The last time the two teams met was in a friendly match in February 23, 2012 and the game ended scoreless.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of the match, Taifa Stars assistant coach Hemed Morocco said that this will be a very important match for Taifa Stars after the away defeat in Algeria last week.

“We are not in a good condition in terms of Fifa ranking, so after receiving a defeat in Algeria this will be a nice opportunity to turn things around,” said Morocco.

In the latest Fifa ranking, Tanzania have been placed in the 146th position while DR Congo are ranked 39th in the world.

Coach Morocco also confirmed that two players (Aishi Manula and Abdulaziz Makame) will not be available due to injury.

“Tanzania one” sustained an injury when he was in his club duty but he joined the squad and travelled to Algeria, although he did not feature in the hammering.

“Aishi Manula has still not recovered yet and he will not be in the starting line-up against DR Congo, Abdulrahman Mohamed will remain in goal,” said Morocco.

In the press conference, DR Congo head coach Florent Ibenge said that the game will be tough and a good warm up for both teams.

He added that, they know that Tanzania has a good team and it will be very hard to play against them in front of their supporters but they are prepared to have a good match.

“We are going to face one of the best teams in Africa, we will be ready to take on this opportunity to play against this youthful team as part of our preparation,” said Ibenge.

In the 2019 AFCON qualifying matches, DR Congo have been placed in group G with the likes of Liberia, Congo Brazzaville and Zimbabwe.
