Over the past week, Goal has produced three top five MSL2017 lists; Best Players, Worst Flops and Most Promising Players, as selected by our editors.

Number one on the Most Promising Players' list was Pahang and Malaysia U23 midfielder Nor Azam Abdul Azih. Goal was fortunate to get his response on the win, just before the 22-year old joined the Young Tigers' training on Tuesday, ahead of the 2018 AFC U23 Championship.

"I am frankly surprised by the win! But I will use it to motivate myself further.

"I want to play at a higher level in the future," remarked Azam.

Foremost on his mind is improving on his three second-place finishes in 2017, by winning a title next season.

This year Pahang finished runners up in the Super League and the FA Cup, while Malaysia U23 won the silver medal at the Southeast Asian Games.

"It's probably not our time this year, but second place isn't that bad really.

"But we'll definitely step it up next season," said the midfielder.

Asked about the Young Tigers' chances in the AFC finals next January, Azam

"If we play as a team, strengthen up mentally and physically and prepare 100 per cent, I am confident we can go far in the competition," he noted.
