The superlatives are fast running out for the champion-in-waiting Johor Darul Ta'zim after they yet another win on MD17 of the 2018 Super League season. The 0-4 win achieved over Melaka United was JDT's second straight away win as well as their fifth straight league win.
Fernando Elizari put in a five-star performance in the creative role behind Fernando Marquez as JDT ran riot in the second half. Elizari had already laid on an assist for Marquez in the first half and proceeded to do the same for Safawi Rasid in the second half. There was also time for Elizari to stamp his mark with a goal in between the two he created.
It showed of a blossoming partnership in midfield that is helped by the pair of Hariss Harun and Syamer Kutty Abba behind him. Syamer is now getting consecutive starts for JDT and lasted until the 75th minute before being replaced by Ignacio Insa.
"First half was very difficult for us. They played very deep and compact, it was hard for us to penetrate. We did well to get one goal to take the lead into half time. In the second half we played a much better game, we opened them up and scored three goals."
"We have five more games and it will all be very tough. Now we have to rest and recover well for a tough game against Perak," Hariss told TV9.
Insa may be eased back into action after his long lay-off but at the most Syamer is the one trusted to be alongside Hariss on the pitch, the Singaporean has also taken over the armband in recent times.
After a slow start to his JDT career again earlier in the season, Hariss has now been putting in consistent performance in every match to outline his importance to the team. The 27-year-old is one of the first names on the teamsheet and it is looking very likely that he will lead JDT to yet another league success.
