Head coach of Kedah, Tan Cheng Hoe praised his team and believed that playing possession football helped them with the dominant 4-1 win over Pahang.
Cheng Hoe stated that their style of possession football and short-passing game rewarded them with the three points and has urged his players to be more consistent in playing that way.
Speaking after the game, Cheng Hoe said: “I told my players we must played with our style, with possession football and in the end, we scored the goal. Players did well to follow orders and played short-passing game.”
“If we played long ball, we may not be able to compete with Pahang. We know they have good physical players so I told my players to be strong mentally.
“I think we always played well with this style but the season is still long, I want the players to be consistent in every game.”
Cheng Hoe believed Kedah’s second goal killed the game but he was also quick to praise Farhan Roslan, who came on as a sub and scored Kedah’s third goal of the night.
“I think the turning point was when we scored the second goal. The players gained more confidence after the goal.”
“Farhan did really well in training and I wanted to give him the chance. He rewarded us with a goal and that is what he is capable of,” added Cheng Hoe
Kedah’s win over Pahang has put them at the top of the table after four games, collecting eight points so far, one point ahead of Pahang and Perak respectively.
