Florida State and Washington faced off in Game 1 of the Women's College World Series on Monday, and the Seminoles came out victorious.
The game was devoid of scoring action as star pitchers Gabbie Plain and Meghan King took the circle in the series opener, but both teams had multiple innings end with runners left stranded.

With the game scoreless heading into the sixth inning, Florida State's Anna Shelnutt broke the drought with a solo home run to left-center field.
FSU's 1-0 win was all about the pitching as Kelly dominated through seven innings to increase her scoreless streak to 33 1/3 innings. She struck out six Huskies and allowed just five hits and two walks.
Florida State can win its first WCWS with another victory on Tuesday night while Washington will look to extend the series to a deciding Game 3.

9:27 — Gabbie Plain ends the inning with her sixth K of the night. Washington will head to the final frame down 1-0.
