Megan Rapinoe was awarded the adidas Golden Boot after her scoring efforts in the United States women's national team's World Cup win.

The Golden Boot goes to the player with the most goals, and Rapinoe used Sunday's first goal to inch ahead of the rest of the competition.

Rapinoe tied USWNT teammate Alex Morgan — who won the Silver Boot with six goals and three assists — and England's Ellen White with the goal, but Rapinoe had the tie-break with her assists and goals in fewer minutes played than Morgan.

It marked Rapinoe's first Golden Boot in her third World Cup appearance.

She could not describe the feeling after the match.

"I don't know how to feel right now, it's ridiculous," she said.

Rapinoe started her Golden Boot campaign with one goal in the group stage, and followed it up with back-to-back braces. She tied for the lead as top scorer early in the tournament and continued to keep her name in the mix in the knockout stage.

After the US breezed through the group with 18 total goals, the USWNT only scored four in the knockouts. All four of those came of the foot Rapinoe.
