Germany finished atop Group B and eliminated South Africa with a 4-0 win Monday at the Women's World Cup, with Sara Daebritz scoring for the second game running.
Narrow victories against China and Spain already had secured qualification for Martina Voss-Tecklenburg's side, who again showed its class in Montpellier on Monday despite the absence of injured star Dzsenifer Marozsan.
First-half goals from Melanie Leupolz, Daebritz and Alexandra Popp set up an easy win that sent South Africa out of the competition, with Lina Magull adding a fourth.
Leupolz opened the scoring in the 14th minute with her first Germany goal since 2016.
A right-wing corner from Verena Schweers was badly defended by South Africa, allowing Leupolz to plant home a simple header.
It was 2-0 in the 29th minute when South Africa goalkeeper Andile Dlamini made a mess of a routine ball into the box, leaving Daebritz a tap-in, and a third goal arrived before halftime.
Giulia Gwinn's brilliant left-wing cross set up captain Popp to score an easy downward header to make up for earlier missing a great chance.
Another Dlamini mistake led to Magull netting the fourth from close range before the hour mark, the goalkeeper only able to push Marina Hegering's header against the inside of the post.
After Janine van Wyk's speculative 35-yard drive flew narrowly over the crossbar, Dlamini regained her composure to make a fine save from Daebritz before Germany twice saw a late fifth ruled out for offside.
