England have reached the Round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Three Lions failed to reproduce the champagne football witnessed during their 6-2 thumping of Iran when they drew 0-0 with USA, but that result did at least put them on the brink of reaching the knockout phase.

They then secured their place in the next round in emphatic style, defeating Wales 3-0 thanks to a double from Marcus Rashford and a goal from Phil Foden.

Who will England play next?

The winners of Group B are scheduled to take on the runners-up of Group A in the last 16.

With England winning their group, their last-16 opponents will be Senegal. Aliou Cisse's side beat Ecuador 2-1 on November 29 to snatch a place in the knockout rounds.

Had Gareth Southgate's side come second in their group, they would have faced Netherlands in the Round of 16. Louis van Gaal's side beat host nation Qatar 2-0 on November 29 to secure their place as winners of Group A.
