The Vancouver Whitecaps announced Wednesday that defender David Edgar will be out until the fall after undergoing surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee, along with the posterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments.
Edgar, 29, suffered the injury last month on an offseason golf trip in Arizona, where he fell victim to a hit and run motor vehicle accident.

"It was an unfortunate circumstance that led to David's injury but we are pleased to hear the procedure was successful," Whitecaps coach Carl Robinson said in a news release. "We look forward to having David back on the field and training with the team in the fall."
A veteran of 41 caps for Canada, Edgar joined the Whitecaps in July and made nine appearances in all competitions.
