Bayer Leverkusen are still undefeated in the Bundesliga and top the table with a commanding 16-point lead over current champions Bayern Munich.
No side other than Bayern has won the German Bundesliga since 2011/12, but Xabi Alonso is closing in on a magnificent achievement in his early managerial career.
His stellar season in charge of Leverkusen has seen him attract top attention all around Europe, and most recently he was the favorite to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool following his departure at the end of the season.
Much to the delight of Leverkusen fans, though, Alonso put to bed the rumors and confirmed he will remain as the German club's coach next season.
With their significant lead at the top of the Bundesliga seemingly now unassailable, The Sporting News takes a look at when Leverkusen can be crowned champions of Germany.

When can Bayer Leverkusen win the Bundesliga?
Leverkusen have only dropped points on four occasions this season and their most recent 1-0 away to Union Berlin saw them reach 76 points on April 6.
Bayern suffered their second successive defeat as they failed to hang on to a two-goal lead and were beaten by FC Heidenheim 3-2. That result almost guarantees the end of their 11-year dominance in the Bundesliga.
With six games still to play, the earliest possible date for their title to be secured will be on Matchday 29 (April 12/13/14). For this to happen, Leverkusen will need to beat Werder Bremen and Munich to lose against Koln.
