Interim head coach Anthony Hudson leads the United States in the toughest match yet, as they take on Mexico in a friendly called the Continental Clasico from Glendale, Arizona.

The stand-in boss has navigated the team in the absence of a permanent manager, with Gregg Berhalter's contract not renewed in the aftermath of the 2022 World Cup. As U.S. Soccer looks for a new head man, Hudson takes charge of the first match against Mexico this calendar year.

U.S. Soccer created the Continental Clasico as an annual friendly with the plan to meet various North and South American national teams, with Mexico set to be the inaugural opposition.

The match falls outside a FIFA international window, so domestic-based players make up the majority of both rosters. Clubs in Europe were able to refuse national team call-ups for this game, leaving coaches left to pull from MLS (in USA) and Liga MX (in Mexico).
